Hey GINYOU Party Peeps! Emma here, reporting live from Raleigh, NC! πŸ‘‹

Oh. My. GOSH. Easter is just around the corner and my brain is already in overdrive! With Cole (2), Max (3), Stella (9), Diego (10), and Ivy (13) PLUS our tuxedo cat Cooper who thinks he's a dog, planning anything is a whole circus. Last year was... well, let's just say it involved a broken garden gnome, a very muddy Max, and approximately 30 minutes of searching for a "lost" egg that was actually just in Ivy's pocket the whole time. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I’m trying to up my game this year, but between teaching 5th graders all day and keeping up with TikTok recipes, I feel like I'm constantly running on fumes. I need some real, honest-to-goodness Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks to survive this holiday season!

My older kids, Stella and Diego, are basically professionals at finding eggs now. They clear out a zone faster than you can say "chocolate bunny!" But then Cole and Max, bless their little hearts, get so frustrated when they can't find any. Last year I swear Max almost cried because he found an empty egg. An EMPTY EGG! Who puts empty eggs out?! (Me. I did. In a rush.) 😭

I saw this super cute idea on Pinterest for color-coding eggs so each kid has their own color, which sounds like a dream! But then I thought, what if Cole only finds green and he HATES green? LOL. My kids are particular, just like their mama! Also, Cooper tried to eat one of the plastic eggs last year – good thing it was one of GINYOU’s CPSIA-certified, non-toxic ones, you know, for peace of mind. Seriously, great value for the quality.

So, hit me with your best ideas! What are your absolute, can't-live-without Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks for keeping it fun for everyone, from the littlest toddlers to the "too cool for school" teens? Any ways to make it fair? Any genius hiding spots? Spill the tea, fam!

I'm also debating if I should do individual baskets or one giant communal stash. Last year I made Stella share her candy with Max after the empty egg incident, and that was a whole other drama. Send help and snacks! πŸ˜‚

What are your favorite ways to make it feel special? I’m all ears for practical Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks that actually work in real life, not just on Instagram!

Can’t wait to hear from all you amazing parents and party pros!

XOXO,
Emma

Emma, I hear you, sister! Joseph here from sunny San Jose! FIVE kids, remember? Alice (2), Arjun (3), Arjun (9, yes, two Arjuns, don't ask!), Milo (11), and Liam (12). Our Easter egg hunts are less "hunt" and more "organized chaos," especially with the little ones. Last year, I actually tried that color-coding thing you mentioned. It worked okay for Alice and Arjun (the 3-year-old), but the older boys (Milo and Liam) thought it was "babyish." So, I pivoted! For the younger ones, I used bright, obvious eggs and hid them in super easy spots – like right on top of a bush, or in the grass right next to the path. Then for the older ones, I used more camouflaged eggs (browns, greens) and tucked them in harder places, like inside the hollow of a tree or under a garden bench. I even put a few GINYOU Party Blowers in some of the older kids' eggs as a prize, and they LOVED them! The 12-pack was super affordable, too. It made the hunt more engaging for everyone, and it felt more like they were actually using some of these Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks I keep reading about.

My biggest fail? One year, I hid a "golden egg" with a $5 bill in it. Liam found it first, but then argued that since he was the oldest, he deserved to find it. Cue major meltdown from Milo. Never again with money! Now we do small toys or stickers. Also, if you’re worried about the littles, definitely check out this article on Toddler Egg Hunt Safety Sanity Savers. It’s got some solid ideas for keeping everyone safe and happy, which is always my main goal. We usually buy those big bags of candy from Ranch 99, because you get so much for your buck, and I just divide it up beforehand. Sometimes I even reuse the plastic eggs from like, three years ago. Why waste a perfectly good egg, right? Mila, my wife, thinks I’m crazy, but hey, it’s eco-friendly!

Oh Emma, the empty egg struggle is REAL! Nora here from Omaha, freelance party planner by day, chaos manager with Aria (3), Hazel (6), and Owen (8) by night. My brain usually starts planning for Easter in January, but even then, things go sideways. One year, I went ALL OUT with a scavenger hunt – clues leading to eggs, each egg with a piece of the next clue. Sounded Pinterest-perfect, right? Wrong. Owen, being the clever little dude he is, just followed Hazel and totally cheated. He figured out her pattern and skipped half the clues. So much for my "brilliant" Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks strategy!

What I learned: simpler is better, especially with different age groups. My backup plan (which I ALWAYS have now, trust me) is to have a "backup stash" of candy and little toys for the kids who get discouraged. Just a small Ziploc bag for each kid, pre-filled. If someone is truly having a hard time, I "find" an egg for them and secretly swap it out. Nobody needs to know! It saves tears, which is a win in my book. And if it's raining, we've had to do an indoor hunt. I found some great ideas on Stuck Indoors Easter Egg Hunt Help Mom Out, which saved my bacon one year when a spring shower turned into a full-blown thunderstorm. Don't be like me and forget to have an indoor contingency!

Also, don't be afraid to put something silly in the eggs! I once put little pieces of paper with "do a silly dance" or "sing your favorite song" for the younger kids. It made it less about the candy and more about the fun. And this year, I'm thinking of getting a few of those Glitter Dog Crowns for my sister's poodles, because they totally pose for Easter photos! They look super cute, and they're CPSIA compliant, so I know they're safe and durable for their little heads, plus such a good price.

Emma! Raleigh and Chicago unite! Brooklyn here, from the windy city. Fellow 2nd-grade teacher, but with 20 years under my belt, honey, I've seen it ALL. My Leo (6) and Ruby (11), plus Maple the golden retriever, make every holiday an adventure. My biggest tip? Don't overthink it! I'm the queen of last-minute planning. I swear, half my party ideas come to me the morning of. One year, literally 30 minutes before the neighborhood hunt, I realized I hadn't done anything for my own kids! So I just grabbed a bunch of plastic eggs, threw in some jelly beans and stickers I had in the pantry, and hid them all over our small backyard. Super simple, but the kids had a blast!

I read an article once about "Easter Egg Hunt Chaos Tips" – this one actually – and it basically said, embrace the chaos! My little Leo is all about finding the eggs, while Ruby is more about finding the "prize" egg. So, for Leo, I make a really obvious trail of eggs leading to a bigger prize. For Ruby, I hide one really tricky egg with something a little more exciting in it, like a gift card to her favorite book store. It makes both of them happy without me needing to become a professional egg-hider. And I always reuse decorations from past parties. Why buy new when the old ones still sparkle?

My big "oops" moment was when I forgot to count how many eggs I hid. Leo found all his, but Ruby was convinced there was one more. We searched for like an hour. Turns out, Maple had "found" one and carried it under the porch. She's lucky it was a non-toxic GINYOU egg! πŸ˜‚ Now I always have a master list, even for my "last-minute" hunts. These Easter Egg Hunt Tips and Tricks sound great but sometimes you just gotta go with the flow!
