Hey everyone! Lucy here from Atlanta. Hope you're all having a good week. I'm already deep in planning for Easter, which feels like it sneaks up on me every year! This year, we're doing a big family brunch with Marcus's side, and I'm in charge of the kid activities.

The thing is, we've got a pretty big age range with our blended crew. There's Diego (5), Lily (7), Owen (8), and then our oldest Owen (11). It's tough sometimes to find party ideas that keep everyone engaged without the little ones feeling left out or the older ones getting bored right away. Last year, our egg hunt was... chaos. Diego only found two eggs, and the 11-year-old Owen was practically napping by the time the younger kids finished.

I'm really trying to find some non-candy Easter basket fillers and also some budget-friendly ways to entertain. I'm a frugal genius, if I do say so myself – never pay full price if I can help it! My coffee intake is already through the roof thinking about keeping these four entertained!

So, I'm reaching out to this amazing community for some inspiration. What are your go-to Fun Easter Party Games that work for a group with kids from 5 to 11? Anything that involves teamwork or different roles for different ages would be perfect. I'm trying to avoid a repeat of last year's egg hunt debacle. Any ideas for Fun Easter Party Games that don't break the bank? Also, how long do these activities usually last for you? I remember reading a post here once about how long kids parties should last, and it really made me think about pacing!

Oh Lucy, I totally get it! Age gaps are a real thing – especially when you're trying to keep the peace and have everyone actually enjoy themselves, right? I'm Kinsley, up here in Jacksonville, FL, and with my little Luna (4), I'm always thinking about how to adapt things for different stages. I usually start planning my HOA and community events months out, so I've got a few things up my sleeve for Easter!

For Fun Easter Party Games that span ages, I’m a big fan of a "Scavenger Hunt with Clues" instead of just a free-for-all egg hunt. For your 5 and 7-year-olds, you can use picture clues or simple number clues (like "find the yellow basket, then look under the big oak tree"). For the 8 and 11-year-olds, you can make the clues riddles or even little math problems they have to solve to get to the next location. That way, everyone is working at their own level, but still together on the same hunt. You can even color-code the clues to different age groups!

Another idea, and this one didn't go great for me one year, but it *can* work: a "Bunny Hop Race" with potato sacks. We tried it for a community picnic and the sacks were just too big for the littler kids, and Luna ended up tripping and crying – totally my fault for not checking the sack sizes! So, if you do that, make sure you have smaller sacks for the younger ones, like those cheap canvas totes from Winn-Dixie. You can also do a "Decorate Your Own Egg" station with hard-boiled eggs and washable markers or stickers. That's always a hit, and kids of all ages can participate at their own pace. Just put down a cheap plastic tablecloth, like the dollar ones, and let them go wild.

I always have a backup plan for rain or if an activity just doesn't land. Last year, the weather forecast for our community egg roll changed last minute, so we quickly pivoted to an indoor craft table with pre-cut bunny shapes and cotton balls. Saved the day!

Howdy, Lucy! Mason here, from the rainy side of Washington, Seattle, specifically. I hear you on the age gap challenge. My Isla, she's 7 now, and trying to keep her entertained alongside her older cousins is a whole adventure in itself. I'm a freelance party planner, so I've seen my share of Easter events, some smooth as glass, others... well, let's just say they involved a lot of paper towels and a quick Amazon Prime order.

My top pick for Fun Easter Party Games for a mixed crowd is a "Bunny Bingo." You create bingo cards with different Easter-themed items – could be a picture of a bunny, a chick, an Easter egg, a specific color of egg, even a piece of grass. Then, as the kids find these items during a walk around the yard or even just looking at decorations, they mark them off. The older kids can help the younger ones identify things, making it a nice cooperative game. You can even have the "caller" be one of the older kids, like your 11-year-old Owen, which gives him a job and keeps him involved. For prizes, instead of more candy, I usually do little trinkets. I usually over-buy supplies, so I always have extra little erasers or stickers on hand.

Another thing I’ve done that’s usually a big hit, especially if there’s a bit of Seattle drizzle like we often get here, is a "Pin the Tail on the Bunny." You can draw a big bunny on a piece of poster board and cut out cotton ball tails. Blindfold the kids, spin 'em around, and let 'em try to pin the tail. It’s simple, classic, and always gets some laughs. All ages can do it.

And speaking of decorations, my sister-in-law had this adorable little french bulldog, and for Easter last year, she got him one of those Glitter Dog Crowns for a photo op. It was technically for a birthday, but it worked perfectly for an Easter pet photo! The kids absolutely loved trying to get him to wear it for a picture. It’s super cute, has CPSIA safety certification, meaning it's made with non-toxic materials, and honestly, for the quality, it's great value. It made for some hilarious memories and kept them busy for a good 15 minutes! Maybe your Marcus would get a kick out of that if you have any pets around for the party!

HELLOOOOO, Lucy! Henrik here from sunny Houston, TX! Whoop whoop! Easter planning is the BEST! I'm a Boy Scout leader, and with my girls Willow (7) and Piper (11) – and Rocky, my French bulldog! – I'm always looking for awesome, high-energy activities! My troop, even though it's just two of them right now, LOVES anything competitive and fun!

For Fun Easter Party Games that hit all the age ranges, you HAVE to try "Bunny Says"! It's like Simon Says, but with bunny actions! "Bunny says hop on one foot!" "Bunny says wiggle your nose!" "Bunny says find something green!" You can make the actions really simple for Diego and Lily, and then more complex or silly for Owen and Owen! It gets them moving and laughing, and you don't need any supplies! FREE FUN!

Another absolute winner, especially for a bit of a runaround, is an "Egg Toss" – but with plastic eggs that are filled with something light, like cotton balls or even just air! We do this with my troop all the time. The kids stand in pairs, and after each successful toss, they take a step back. The last pair standing wins! It's great for hand-eye coordination, and the older kids can really challenge themselves, while the younger ones can just enjoy the tossing. You can pick up a big bag of plastic eggs at Dollar Tree – amazing value there! I always over-buy so I have enough for everyone, plus backups!

And you mentioned Easter baskets – if you're looking for cool fillers that aren't just candy, GINYOU has these 11-Pack Kids Party Hats with Pom-Poms. Now, they're called "birthday" hats, but seriously, they are BRIGHT and colorful and would be FANTASTIC to pop into baskets! Imagine the kids all wearing them while playing games! They're CPSIA safety certified and made from non-toxic materials, which is super important for my girls. Plus, getting 11 for that price is such great value. I always grab extra packs when I see deals at Costco, but these are solid! Just make sure everyone gets a different color – Lucy, I know you love matching colors, but for party hats, sometimes a vibrant mix is even better! SO MUCH FUN!!!!!
