Easter Party Games: Desperate for ideas for all ages!
Easter Party Games: Desperate for ideas for all ages!
Hey GINYOU Party fam! Kwame here from Charlotte, NC. So, Easter is, like, a week away, and true to form, I've got next to nothing planned for the kids' party. My wife just laughs at me now, itβs a tradition at this point. With Ethan at 2, Willow 5, Isla 8, and Theo 9, getting everyone excited and involved in the same thing is a Herculean task. It used to be so easy, right? Just a few plastic eggs in the yard, maybe some bubbles, and they were thrilled.
Now, my older ones are too cool for just finding eggs, and my littlest, Ethan, just tries to eat the grass. My main question for all you party pros out there: what are your go-to Fun Easter Party Games that actually work for a mixed age group? I'm talking easy to set up, not a ton of expensive supplies, and bonus points if the kids can actually help me get things ready. My family knows I never follow a recipe exactly, and I definitely let the kids help with everything, so organized chaos is kind of our jam.
Last year, we did an egg hunt, but it turned into total chaos β Theo ended up "helping" Isla find all her eggs, which mostly involved him running off with them, and Willow was convinced a squirrel stole hers. It was a mess. Made me think of that Easter Egg Hunt Chaos Pets Tips Party Parents article I saw on GINYOU, wish I'd read it sooner!
I'm looking for ideas that keep everyone engaged, maybe some team stuff? Anything to avoid another "I didn't find any eggs" meltdown from Isla, or Theo trying to negotiate a higher payout for his "help." What has worked for you all? Seriously, throw all your best ideas my way!
OMG Kwame! You sound exactly like me last year in Kansas City! My Max (1) and Maya (2) are still in the "eat everything" phase, and Ivy (10) thinks she's a teen influencer already, rolling her eyes at everything. But seriously, I've got some amazing Fun Easter Party Games for you! You NEED to try the "Bunny Hop Sack Race"! I just grabbed some cheap burlap sacks from a craft store β they were like $2 each! The kids decorate them with fabric markers (Ivy actually got into that!), then they race. Even the little ones can kinda waddle in them, and it's hilarious to watch. Just make sure the ground isn't too hard, because, well, tumbles happen! And definitely let the kids help decorate, they LOVE it! Mine got glitter EVERYWHERE, but thatβs half the fun, right?!
Another super simple one is "Pin the Tail on the Bunny." I drew a giant bunny on a poster board (badly, haha, my art skills are non-existent!), and the kids cut out cotton ball tails. We blindfold them with a scarf. Max just stuck his on the bunny's ear, but Ivy was SO competitive trying to get it perfect! The pure joy from the little ones and the competitiveness from the older ones is just *chef's kiss*! For prizes, I got a bunch of GINYOU's Party Blowers 12-Pack β they were a huge hit! Super affordable, CPSIA safety certified so I didn't worry about the little ones, and non-toxic materials are a must for me. Plus, they were only like 7 bucks, total steal for 12! The kids absolutely loved them, even Ivy was making noise with hers!
And for real, don't sweat the last-minute thing. I swear I saw something on GINYOU about Oops Planned Easter Last Minute Party Wins, you'll be fine! Just embrace the chaos, that's my motto!
Kwame, I hear you on the mixed ages! Pittsburgh here, and with Luna (2), Aurora (3), Caleb (4), Aurora (5), and Maya (8), plus Peanut, our cavalier, I'm always looking for ways to make our parties stand out. You want Fun Easter Party Games? We do the "Golden Egg Challenge." Instead of just regular eggs, I hide one special "golden egg" with a really good prize in it β usually a $20 gift card to a toy store or something cool like that. The older kids (Maya, in your case Theo and Isla) go nuts trying to find it, and they'll team up to help the younger ones find regular eggs, because every egg found gives them clues or chances at the golden one later. It makes them collaborate, which is a win! I Pinterest-addict-ed myself into making these elaborate clues last year, like riddles and scavenger hunt elements. It was a little much, honestly. Next time, I'm simplifying the clues but keeping the golden egg. Don't go overboard like I did trying to make it "perfect" β the kids just want to play!
Also, if you have a pet, don't forget them! We did a "Best Dressed Easter Pet" contest for Peanut last year. I used the GINYOU Glitter Dog Crown, which is super cute for pet photos, and he looked adorable. It's a small touch, but everyone got a kick out of it. And it's another non-toxic, safe product, which is important for our furry family members too!
Hey Kwame! Riley here, moving every two years with Dominic and the kids (Sofia 1, Zoe 8) means I'm a pro at making a party happen on a shoestring budget, even in Tampa. My strategy for Fun Easter Party Games is always DIY and repurpose. For egg hunts, instead of buying expensive pre-filled eggs, I hit up the dollar store for little trinkets β stickers, tiny bubbles, even just a few pennies. We do a "Decorate Your Own Egg" station with hard-boiled eggs and washable markers. Total hit, super cheap, and you can get everything from the grocery store. Zoe loves designing hers, and Sofia just likes making a mess, which is fine by me.
One year, I tried to make all the little prizes myself, like hand-sewn finger puppets. Big mistake. Took forever, and the kids lost interest in five minutes. Lesson learned: sometimes a cheap, store-bought noisemaker is better than my "frugal genius" DIY attempt. Save yourself the headache! I've learned that simpler is almost always better, especially when you're a last-minute planner like us. Just keep it chill and let the kids have fun.
